Update - way overdue!

Wow, I just realized it has been about a month since my last post. Nothing too exciting has been going on in my world.

The Fireman has been working a ton so we can have a wonderful trip to Hawaii for our 1 year anniversary. We've paid for our plane tickets, and we made our reservations and have the money saved for this hotel. Our room has a full kitchen in it, so we'll be enjoying most of our meals from our lanai. Now we're just working on saving money for our meals and our activities. I still can't believe we are less than 2 months away from our 1 year anniversary. Time sure does fly!

While the Fireman has been working his 2 jobs, I've been busy with my job and school. I managed to find some time on Monday to go have a girls day with one of my good friends. We went to a hair salon and got our hair done. I decided that I was tired of having my long hair that I always pulled back into a bun or ponytail. I finally realized that I would get a headache every day from doing that. So I chopped it off and got some caramel highlights and lots of layers. For the first time in my life, I'm actually doing my hair instead of washing it and pulling it back. I totally love my new hair!

I promise to try and be better at updating this!

You Know You're a Firefighter's Wife...

You Know You’re A Firefighter’s Wife…

…When you see your husband in navy blue (standard color of all things firefighter) clothing more than any other color.

…If your husband isn’t wearing his usual work uniforms, he still has a T-shirt on that has a fire department logo on it.

...While washing the said navy blue wardrobe, you receive a pungent odor while sorting the dirty clothes. Nothing like the smell of sweat and smoke all mixed together!!!

…When you know the difference between a police siren and a fire siren.

…When you know that all of your smoke detectors work.

…When you find it hard to sleep when your Hubby is at work.

…When you get severely angry when people don't pull over for firetrucks and ambulances.

…When you've held more holidays at the fire station than should be allowed.

…When you've lost all sense of what a "weekend" really is due to your husband's crazy schedule.

…When all of your calendars have every third day circled.

…When you are always prepared to cook any form of desert or pick up any flavor of ice cream to take to the station at a moments notice.

…When everybody that knows a firefighter, will assume that you know them too.

...When you know that it is much better to call an ambulance to take you to the hospital.

...When you get to listen to stories about fires and medical calls when you're husband get home from work.

...You feel like the luckiest girl alive when he comes home off shift and sends your heart a-flutter.

A little bit about me

I'm 25 and I'm a new fireman's wife. New as in we've been married less than a year, and new as in David is a brand new firefighter. For anyone that doesn't know, we were married on November 24th, 2007 at the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix (formerly the Pointe at South Mountain). I work 48+ hours a week dispatching for an emergency flight company. I also am working towards getting my RN. I'm working on my last class so I can apply to the local community colleges for the nursing program. I'm incredibly excited to get this show on the road. David has been so wonderful about taking care of me, the dogs, and the house while I'm never home trying to accomplish all of this. He truly is a wonderful man and my absolute best friend. I don't know what I would do with out him!

As long as I've know David, it's been his dream to become a firefighter. He recently was hired as a reserve for a local fire department. It's a small fire department, but they sure are teaching him a lot, and they're all very nice. If nothing else, it's a great stepping stone to get on with a bigger department. I'm so incredibly proud of him! When he's not at the fire station or home, he's working as an EMT for a local, private ambulance company.

We live in Queen Creek with our 4 crazy dogs. Watson the husky, Sera the beagle (No she wasn't named after me. David named her before he ever met me.) There's also our two chihuahuas, Pixi (the landshark) and Milo (who thinks everyone was put on this Earth to love and pet him). They sure do keep us on our toes and we're so glad we were blessed with such wonderful dogs.
